SHEA HOMES IS PROUD TO BE THE FIRST HOMEBUILDER TO OFFER THE REVOLUTIONARY BLU eQ GEOTHERMAL SYSTEM
07/09/09
(SCOTTSDALE, AZ --- July 1, 2009) – Shea Homes has joined forces with Shasta Pools and Waterfurnace International to develop an innovative solution to reduce costly heating and cooling bills through an environmentally friendly new technology. The new BLU eQ Geothermal System harnesses the energy from the sun, earth, and water to effectively heat and cool a home. This is done by using strategically placed underground pipes and a body of water such as a home swimming pool. The result is a system which efficiently heats homes in the winter months and cools them in the summer months. The cost savings is typically up to 30%-70% over conventional systems and returns nearly 400% of the energy it consumes. Shea Homes is the first homebuilder in the Valley to offer this new energy-efficient solution.
Geothermal Systems emit no carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide or other greenhouse gases, considered to be major contributors to environmental air pollution. And because this is a renewable energy source, it can lower a homeowner’s carbon footprint substantially. For every one unit of energy it is required to produce, it delivers 4-5 additional units of clean, geothermal energy. This solution is also supported by the EPA, which recently stated that “Geothermal energy is the most environmentally friendly heating and cooling system.” (Report 430-R-93-004)
“Shea Homes continually strives to provide ground-breaking and cost-efficient options for our homebuyers. We constantly look for state-of-the-art technologies which increase not only the value of our homes, but contribute to a more sustainable environment and enhance the lifestyles of our homeowners. We are very pleased to be the first builder to offer the BLU eQ Geothermal System and are confident it will contribute to lowering our reliance on the earth’s natural resources,” said Ken Peterson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Shea Homes.
The BLU eQ system has generated tremendous interest, resulting in new homebuyer appointments to review the advantages of utilizing this technology. Shea Homes is excited to offer BLU eQ as an option in several of our communities, allowing homeowners to begin reaping the cost-saving benefits as soon as they move in. In addition, they will also be able to enjoy their new Shasta pool immediately, making this option an even more attractive choice.
Lowering one’s carbon footprint is now more important than ever, and those who purchase the BLU eQ Geothermal System may be eligible for a Federal tax credit. Additionally, Shea Homes is also contributing special BLU eQ incentives for a limited time, making this system as good for your bank account as it is for the environment..
