It's all about location, location, location.

Here's what makes Raleigh-Durham a great place to live.

Due to its family-friendly environment, abundance of outdoor recreation, and vivacious economy, Raleigh is one of the fastest growing cities in the nation, complete with a surge of new home construction to match the influx of new residents.

Raleigh, along with the neighboring cities of Durham and Chapel Hill, make up North Carolina's Research Triangle, one of the most reputable research parks in the country and a major center for high-tech, biotech, and textile development. Other major industries include banking and electronics, especially telecommunications products.

Raleigh is ideal for families. It has a very low crime rate and is an active participant in the Mayors Against Illegal Guns Coalition. It is a designated Bicycle-Friendly community and hosts a number of other family-friendly attractions including the North Carolina Museum of Art, which has one of the largest public art collections on the East Coast.

Raleigh and the surrounding area is a center for education and research, with several prestigious universities in the region including Duke University in Durham and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Raleigh and the surrounding areas are a great place to find a new home. Those interested in the area should be sure to visit Shea Homes’ Home Buying Guide section to learn more.
