5 Tips to Document Your Summer Memories
Summer is a time for kids and adults alike to unplug and enjoy the longer days together. They say this time of year (our favorite) is fleeting, so we want to help you document all of the best moments before the summer season ends! Check out our five ways to preserve your favorite summer #SheaMemories:
Take a Photo Each Week. Now is the time to brush up on your Instagram skills! It’s easy to get distracted by everyday tasks and errands, and before you know it the kids are already in bed and it’s time to settle in and watch Netflix™.
Make an effort to take a least one photo a week so you can look back and remember the fun! You can even get your kids involved by having them take the weekly snapshot. Even if you’re spending time with friends this summer, grab the squad and take fun group photos during your summer hangouts.
Keep a Summer Journal - What better way to remember a dream, a message, or an important date than to write it all down? The same applies to summer adventures with friends and family. Start keeping summer journals and make it a ritual to write out your day before bed.
This is also a great project for your kids! Have them start writing down the best parts of their day, what they learned, what new things they saw or experienced, etc. This can become a keepsake for them to look back at years later!
Draw a Map of Your Home. Help your kids draw a map and teach them new words, such as north, south, east, west, map key, scale, etc. Start with your home, then go bigger by having them map out your whole community! For example, if you live at Baker Ranch, have them draw out a map of Promenade Park and highlight their favorite spots to play.
Another fun project is to help them draw your state and put stickers on the places where they have embarked on some fantastic adventures.
Turn Family Photos Into Keepsakes. Whether it’s a postcard, magnet, or a monthly calendar, turn your photos into keepsakes and souvenirs. The holidays will be here before we know it, so consider using these fun trinkets as gifts for your family and friends!
Scrapbook Your Summer Recipes. Cooking (and eating) is one of our favorite past times, and also an essential part of growing up. Take the time this summer to try whipping up fun and new dishes with your kids, then create a scrapbook that includes the recipes and photos of your little chefs in action. If you’re cooking in a Shea kitchen, you’ll have the perfect backdrop for these kinds of culinary adventures.
We understand how important it is to find the perfect home where your memories can come to life.
