There are many things to which you’re probably looking forward as you plot your move to Trilogy®…the lifestyle, the unique sense of true community, and of course, your beautiful new home.

Trilogy floorplans have it all: distinctive designs, open living spaces, spacious gourmet kitchens, great rooms with fireplaces, covered patios…we could go on. Some floorplans even offer flexible living spaces to transform into whatever you like, either inside the home or accessible via your home’s courtyard or garage. This flex area—sometimes an option in lieu of a third-car garage, sometimes a lofted space with a separate entrance—could become your man cave or she shed! For some homebuyers, in fact, the option to design and enjoy areas like these is what makes Trilogy homes stand far apart from others.

Maybe you already have big plans for this man cave/she shed and know exactly what you plan to do with it. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, though, here are five tips to outfit this space and give it some character:

Trilogy Orlando

  1. Add some color. Because this is your space, go a little wild if you want! Don’t be afraid to embrace that bold wall color you’ve been thinking about for a while, or add wallpaper or paneling to one or more accent walls. Coordinating throw pillows and wall décor can bring this room to life.

  2. Add shelving to display your collections. Maybe you’ve acquired some sentimental objects that you’d love to give their own home. The man cave/she shed is the perfect spot for displaying that sports memorabilia you’ve been collecting for years, or hang your vintage postcard collection that you have long stored away in boxes for lack of space.

Encanterra Country Club

  1. Share your source of pride. Mounted concert tickets going back to the sixties. Hard-earned trophies from your glory days as an athlete. Framed photographs from your personal photography collection. This is a room just for you—which means you should decorate it that way. Choose a wall and hang away!

  2. Don’t forget comfortable seating and flooring. What will you do in your man cave/she shed? Is this your reading nook? Crafting zone? Or where you envision listening to records with neighbors and friends? Whatever you decide to do to outfit this space, it’s likely that you’ll want to spend time there, so make it comfortable. Several plush chairs and a soft rug underfoot, as well as a couple of side tables and a nice, large ottoman will warm the man cave/she shed and make your guests feel at home.

Trilogy at Ocala Preserve

  1. Add a bar (or at least a place for drinks). It isn’t a man cave/she shed without some sort of spot for mixing up drinks! Your drink station could be as simple as a fully equipped bar cart or as elaborate as a built-in bar with refrigerator (fully stocked, of course) and cabinetry. Decide what works for you based on the size of the room and floorplan.

The man cave or she shed is your space to enjoy—one of many in your future Trilogy home—so make it your own! Choose colors, decor, furniture, and paint that makes you feel happy and inspired. Need some inspiration? The Trilogy Design Center team is happy to give you ideas and show you photos of man caves/she sheds in our Trilogy communities across the country. They’ll help you visualize what’s possible and discover your options. Get planning. Your future fun zone awaits!
