In a city that gets 300 days of sun annually, making the most of the natural light in your home is key. While Shea Homes are designed to be accommodating to all the sunlight Arizona gets, there are still a few tricks you can use to really make your interior pop.

Mirrors – Placing mirrors on walls that are opposite or adjacent to where your natural light is flowing from can mimic a window, making it look like you have light coming in from multiple areas of the room. It can also be used to get natural light into spots that natural light wouldn’t be reached without. Whether hung on a wall in your living room, or strategically placed in your bedroom, a mirror can help brighten even those stubbornly dark spots of your house.

Paint – Light colored paint can help accentuate the light. White is typically the best color to reflect natural light, but if you don’t want all white, you can use other subtle shades. Tinkering with your interior paint is also a good way to manipulate areas where you may want less light reflecting around, like near your TV. If you use a glossier paint, you’ll get more reflection, though that is much more up to personal preference.

Kitchen – Kitchens can often be one of the rooms people like to show off, especially in Shea Homes, so making sure you’re creating the most aesthetically pleasing light. Installing glass tiles to your kitchen backsplash can brighten up the room and reflect light like a mirror would, while still keeping your space stylish. Even with simple subway tiles, you can light up your kitchen without lighting up your budget.

Greenery – Often times, those plants and greenery you care for outside, can block some of the light coming into your home. While in certain places, this can be strategic for privacy or keeping out afternoon heat, it may be better to trim the plants down and instead control your privacy with blinds when you need them.

With Shea Homes’ radiant interiors, bringing in natural light really allows for the meticulously crafted features to shine. If you’re interested in making a Shea Home yours, check out our interest list.
