Halloween Decor – It Doesn’t Have to be Daunting!

Halloween is fast approaching and if we know anything about our communities, we know that they’re full of families who love trick or treating.
We also know that our families are busy and there is a good chance you haven’t been able to wrap your head around the Halloween décor for your home yet or started planning for that Halloween party you promised to throw this year!
There will be a lot of scary things this Halloween but we’d like to hope that the planning is not one of them. We have compiled a list of simple must do’s for any last minute spooky house décor or party planning needs!
If you’re anything like us, you have probably already visited the local pumpkin patch. That’s one of the best parts of this holiday! Now you have a family full of pumpkins and you’re just not quite sure if you will find time to carve them. Sometimes the ol’ carving method is not always the answer. Here’s some great DIY pumpkin ideas that can make any pumpkin carving experience less daunting and maybe even more impressive.
The Cookie Cutter and Mallet Approach
Grab some cookie cutters and your favorite mallet, place the cookie cutter where you’d like your shape and “BAM”… hit it with the mallet. For the tinier folks in the family, be sure to take extra precaution as we’d hate to see little fingers get caught between the pumpkin and mallet. But, it truly can make for a fairly painless and unique pumpkin carving experience.
The Power Drill Masterpiece
Sometimes carving in general just isn’t your cup of tea, it’s messy and can cramp up your hands. Why not summon your “handy-man” side and drill hole into your pumpkin. Get creative and use different drill bit heads for a truly awesome pumpkin.
Little Pumpkin Monsters
Last but certainly not least, carve a space for plastic teeth and presto you’ve got yourself a pumpkin monster!
So now you have some pumpkins to put on your porch, what about the rest of the house?
You don’t want to be the family that has to turn off the porch light because you’re not feeling festive this year. Trick or Treaters need a place to trick or treat so make sure your house is not the one skipped on the street!
Spooky Spider Lanterns
Paper lanterns are relatively cheap and this craft will be fun for your kids, or you, on a dreary evening.

Remember those gourds you bought at the pumpkin patch and you’re not sure why? Never fear! The gourd ghouls are here!
Ghosts with the Most
If you have a little more time, which means you should probably get started now, you can make life-size ghosts that will surely scare your guests and trick or treaters.
Giant Spiders Galore!
Here’s a creepy crawly option that can take up a good amount of space in your front yard. We know you have some garbage bags lying around, why not put them to good use?
