Club Connect | Ledger Art, Artistry of the Plains Indians
Join us as we tune into a Club Connect live broadcast from Trilogy at Verde River in Arizona!
In Ledger Art, Artistry of the Plains Indians presenter Jane Przeslica, from Arizona's Heard Museum, talks about the dramatic changes the 1800s brought to American Indian people throughout North America. Examples of those changes were greater contact with non-natives and introducing native peoples to new materials, including ledger paper. Continuing a long tradition of recording important events on animal hide and stone, Plains Indian people began to use ledger paper as an art canvas and, in doing so, left an extensive visual history of their traditional culture.
