Coloradans love the time-honored tradition of spending the 4th of July grilling and enjoying time with friends and family, then ending the night with fireworks! Because we have homes all over Colorado, we’ve rounded up the best Independence Day celebrations with fireworks shows throughout the greater Denver Metro Area.
Of course, because we live in the beautiful state of Colorado, your Independence Day fun doesn’t have to be limited to fireworks –– why not go for a hike instead? As always, don’t forget to check your community’s event calendar as many of our communities host their own Independence Day events.
Independence Eve - July 3rd Celebrations
Get your fireworks fix a day early with Colorado’s largest free community fireworks show at Denver’s Civic Center Park. “Indy Eve” features food trucks, craft beer, and wine bars starting at 4pm. Then, at 5pm, you can enjoy live music from Chris Daniels & the Kings and the Colorado Symphony. This is the perfect event for a picnic, so pack your blankets and lawn chairs for seating. The evening’s explosive finale features a light show and fireworks from the top of the Denver City and County Building!
The Town of Erie invites you to relax, and unwind, on the 3rd of July, to celebrate our nation’s independence. The fireworks will be launched from Vista Ridge at dusk, but we recommend showing up while the sky is still light to find the ideal spot for your blanket and perhaps a picnic. Another great location for viewing is Columbine Mine Park and are welcome on the driving range after 5 p.m.
July 4th Celebrations
The City of Brighton will host one of the region’s largest fireworks shows with their 4th of July Community Celebration at Carmichael Park. The party starts at 4pm with free activities for the kids — as well as plenty of food vendors. Get your dancing shoes ready for DJ Tidalwave and FUNKIPHINO, then settle on your blankets and lawn chairs for the show to kick off around 10pm.
The Highlands Ranch 4th of July event with fireworks returns to Highland Heritage Regional Park this year –– and let us just say, your kids will not want to miss this one. The celebrations begin at 4pm with balloon twisters, face painters, games, inflatables, food trucks, and live music before the fireworks show starts at 9:30pm. Shuttle parking is from Highlands Ranch High School and Rock Canyon High School.
Celebrate Without Fireworks
If you or your dog are not big fans of fireworks, why not enjoy America the Beautiful by getting out of the city? Explore majestic mountains on a day trip hike that will give you more time in nature and less time in I-70 traffic. Maroon Bells, Hanging Lake, Alberta Falls and more are within a short drive from Denver, and the stunning views are sure to be just as spectacular as any fireworks display.
No matter where or how you celebrate Independence Day, we hope you have a safe and fun experience. Share your backyard cookouts and fireworks with us on Instagram or Facebook by tagging us at @SheaHomesCO and using the hashtag #SheaHomesCO!
