Fall is just around the corner, and we can hardly wait to feel the crisp air and watch the leaves turn. Autumn in Colorado means cozy time spent at home enjoying the fire with scented candles and spiced cookies, and it also brings some of our favorite activities — like tailgating, pumpkin patches, and corn mazes. Shea Homes® has rounded up the best ways to enjoy fall in Colorado and make the most of the final warm days of the year.

Tailgating at Football Games
A time-honored tradition for football fans, tailgating at a pro football game is almost as fun as watching the game itself! The next official home game of the season is September 29 against Jacksonville, and you can bet fans will be camping out in the parking lot with grills and coolers. To keep the excitement alive from the comfort of your own home, why not put an impressive spin on your game day party by making football-themed food?

Pumpkin Patches
We love walking through pumpkin patches to find our own perfect jack-o-lanterns, and that’s only half the fun! Two pumpkin patches close to Shea Homes communities — Anderson Farms in Erie and Colorado Pumpkin Patch in Monument — capture the joy of the season with hay rides, petting zoos, fall festivals, and more!

Corn Mazes
Although some pumpkin patches have their own corn mazes, we especially love celebrating the harvest season with the impressive artistry of gigantic local corn mazes. Find your way through the twists and turns of a maze during the day with the little ones, or venture through a haunted corn labyrinth at night for the ultimate Halloween adventure.

Mountain Adventures: Fall Foliage and Elk Bugling
The mountains promise plenty of enchantment this time of year — thankfully you don’t have to venture far to enjoy breathtaking fall foliage colors. We recommend visiting Rocky Mountain National Park for autumn colors — consider taking a picnic to Moraine Park! While you’re there, be sure to check out the elk bugling: During the fall mating season, bull elk put on a spectacle unlike any other. If you’ve never heard an elk bugle, you’re in for a treat!
