The spookiest season is finally upon us — and with it comes all of our favorite fun, scary home decor. If you’re not a big fan of cobwebs and plastic skeletons but you’d still like to decorate your home to celebrate Halloween, Shea Homes® found plenty of sophisticated and chic DIY projects for you. From glam pumpkins to stunning tablescapes, your decorations will be just as tasteful as the rest of your Shea home.
Greet your guests with a fun and classic assortment of fall items. The sky’s the limit when it comes to accessorizing your doorstep, so get creative with the items you use! We love the iconic combination of wicker baskets, pinecones, and colored pumpkins. You can find white and green pumpkins at most grocery stores, but if you’re more of a faux pumpkin lover, buy them at any craft store. If something is outside of your desired colorscape, simply spray paint it!
DIY Halloween Candles
Candles are one of our favorite parts of fall, so it makes perfect sense to add them into your Halloween decor. Make each candle its own statement piece by transferring your own decorations right onto the candle itself using wax paper and a heat gun or blow dryer. The best part about making wax paper transfers for your candles is that the customization options are limitless, so you can create whatever fits your decor style!
You don’t need to break the budget to create an elegant, spooky tablescape. Use found items and spray paint them into your chosen color scheme, add pops of color with florals, and include a few fun touches like potion labels and letter openers to hold the candied apples. Layer textures to create interest –– we especially love the idea of swapping out plasticky cotton cobwebs for gray moss. The end result is scary but glamorous!
If you’re going for easy-not-cheesy, we recommend using branches to create a spooky ambiance –– their quintessential bare branches remind us of eerie, foggy forests. If you’re looking to add a quick DIY touch, why not attach cardstock bats that you cut out with your little ones? It’s not often that kid-friendly crafts can come out looking so sophisticated!
No matter what you choose for your Halloween decor –– there’s a candy- and costume-loving kid in all of us –– we’re sure it’ll look splendid. After all, Shea Homes in Colorado are refined and chic all year round. Tag us in your DIY photos on Facebook or Instagram with @sheahomesco so we can join in on the fun, too!
