Hosting the Grandkids at Trilogy®
Sep 2, 2019
Seeking a new nest for your retirement years? Why not pick a place that your friends and family will be excited to visit? After all, you’ll have more time to do what you love with the people you love—including your grandkids! For grandparents, retirement means more opportunities to host the kiddos for fun-filled afternoons or memory-making sleepovers. This is your chance to choose a home in a community that makes them want to come visit and play!
Our Trilogy resort communities, whether 55+ or all ages, feature a variety of amenities that are a blast for the young – and the young at heart. Many communities have swimming pools, art studios, demo kitchens, and more. Take the grandkids for a nature walk on the trails, or for a sweet treat at the restaurant. The possibilities for daily fun and connection are endless.
Read on to discover just a few of the Trilogy amenities that are as engaging to you as they are to your pint-sized pals.
Serve up some fun on the Sport Courts.
The pickleball courts found at most Trilogy communities are the perfect place to serve up some fun with the grandkids. If you’re not familiar with pickleball, it’s a paddle sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. This lower-impact sport is easy to learn and fun for a wide range of ages and skill levels. You’ll also often find tennis and bocce courts right nearby, so if the grandkids are staying for a few days, you can mix up the on-court action!
Take them out on the water.
How about an afternoon of kayaking, canoeing, or stand-up paddle boarding? At Trilogy Lake Norman, you can visit The Outfitter—an outdoor adventure shop within the community—to grab all the gear you need for an afternoon on the largest lake in North Carolina, nearby Lake Norman. If you really want to make a day of it, you could take advantage of your access to the Freedom Boat Club—included with membership at Trilogy Lake Norman—and hop on board for a family adventure on the water. Choose from ski boats, deck boats, bowriders, pontoons, tri-toons, and fishing boats, and your only expense will be the cost of fuel. There’s no better way to enjoy lake like with the grandkids!
Get creative in the kitchen.
Do you have a budding chef in the family? Future chefs will love to see what’s cooking in Helen’s Kitchen at Trilogy at Verde River. You can bring the little ones to catch a chef demo - complete with tastings - to learn culinary tips and tricks from the pros. Or, sign up to take a cooking class with them, by your side for some special bonding time in the kitchen. You could even reserve the culinary studio and put on your own cooking lessons covering your favorite recipes.
Make a masterpiece together.
Whether your grandchild inherited your artistic talent or you both just enjoy having fun and letting your creativity flow, you’ll love the Art & Exploration Studio at Trilogy at Lake Frederick. This colorful space is stocked with all the supplies and media you’ll need to make a masterpiece with the kids. For some added inspiration, explore the artwork in the nearby Art Gallery, featuring the work of a different talented Trilogy artist each month!
Get in the swing of things.
Want to pass your love of the game on to the next generation? The innovative, Tom Lehman-designed golf course at Trilogy at Ocala Preserve is a great place to start! This hybrid 18-hole course features a “Gallery Loop” of six par 3 holes that offer a perfect way for a novice golfer to get a good feel for the game—while still being challenging and fun for experienced golfers who want to work on their short game. You’ll not only have a chance to pass on your putting skills; you’ll also have time to chat and catch up while riding along together in the golf car. Priceless!
Another fun way to share your passion for the greatest game is by taking your grandkids to the full-scale golf simulator at Trilogy at Tehaleh. No matter the weather, it’s always a great day to tee up and play a virtual round, or to focus on developing skills for those who are just starting out.
Spend a day at the spa.
Have a tween or teen in your life? Manis and pedis with grandma might be just the way to spend a Saturday. Many of our Trilogy communities feature full-service day spas, including Trilogy at The Vineyards. Plan for some polishing and pampering—maybe even a first facial—at Sawa Spa, then follow it up with a bite to eat and a chance to relax and chat at Alice’s Kitchen.
This is just a small sampling of ways you can bond with your grandkids when they visit your home at Trilogy. From bike trails to crafts, from ping pong to parks, from swimming at the pool to s’mores by the fire pit—we could go on all day! Reach out to your Community Representative to find out the full list of awesome resort amenities at the Trilogy community that interests you. Discover your dream home at Trilogy and you can be sure that a visit to Grandma and Grandpa’s will be full of memory-making experiences. Now that’s The Good Life!
