5 Reasons to Live in Metro Phoenix
Oct 16, 2020 • Phoenix Area, AZ
There is no time like the present to live in the Metro Phoenix area. With gorgeous weather, expanding suburbs and so much more, people are flocking to the Valley of the Sun. Here are just a few of the reasons that people love living in Arizona.
That Year-Round Sun
It is Arizona’s most talked about feature, our 300+ days of sun every year. If you like to be warm and like to be tan (as most of us do), then Arizona is the spot for you. Year-round sun allows for outdoor activities any time of year, as long as you take proper precautions during the hot summer months. Several Shea Homes include expansive community areas to spend with friends and family, and some even have pools to cool off in the summer. For many, the appeal of not having to shovel snow, or drive in the rain any longer is reason enough to join one of the fastest growing cities in America.
Diverse Surrounding Cities
Another appeal to living in Arizona is the proximity to cities with diverse offerings. You can head north to Flagstaff and enjoy the perfect summer temperatures or go skiing in the snowy winter months. You can also take a slightly longer trip to Southern Utah’s numerous national parks. Almost straight west of Phoenix is San Diego, where you can relax by the ocean, or take the family to the many attractions. If you need a fun weekend away with friends, you can also make the short road trip to Las Vegas. While Arizona definitely has enough to keep you entertained, it’s good to have other options when your itching to get out of town.
The Nightlife & Dining Scene
What comes with so many new people are new ideas for restaurants and entertainment. As people from so many different areas move to Phoenix, a melting pot of dining options has arisen. Phoenix has popular options for every appetite, and many come with their own unique southwestern flair. There has also been an expansion of bars and nightlife in the city that provide a fun extension of your night after dinner. Be sure to find a prickly pear drink when you’re out, they include the sweet fruity juice from the prickly pear cacti flora.
The Beautiful Outdoors
One of the most noticeable features of Phoenix is being surrounded by gorgeous mountains, it is after all the Valley of the Sun. Phoenix is a hiker’s dream, there are multiple mountains and nature preserves within 30 minutes of Central Phoenix. With hikes of varying difficulty, there is something for everyone, and many areas have lookouts that are accessible by car so you can enjoy the sunset without the sweat. Shea has communities around the valley that offer homes set right against some of these mountains.
Accessibility
Everyone knows the frustration that terrible traffic can cause. You are just trying to get home from work, or get a good spot at a concert, but the highway traffic keeps you from doing so quickly. Luckily in Phoenix, traffic is less of an issue than other cities. With an efficient freeway system, you can dart from the suburbs to Downtown Phoenix in approximately 30 minutes. When you want to avoid paying for parking, you can hop on the light rail system that stretches over 20 miles and relax on the way to your destination. If you’re looking to travel out of town, Sky Harbor airport offers service to more than 105 domestic destinations nonstop, and 23 international destinations nonstop. Oh, and the airport is centrally located, making it more easily accessible.
