With the Fourth of July coming up, we are all eager to celebrate. However, living in Arizona, it is important to remember the laws and regulations surrounding fireworks. Inappropriate use of fireworks can result in harm to our beautiful desert, communities, and loved ones. Here are some tips to keep everyone safe!

Buying and Using Fireworks
Some important dates come to mind when dealing with fireworks. They can only be sold during certain weeks of the year. Coming up, fireworks are available for purchase from May 20 to July 6. They are able to be used from June 24 to July 6, until 11 p.m., except for July 5, when they are allowed until 1 a.m. For the remainder of the year, legal buying and selling dates are available on the Phoenix government website.

Which Fireworks are Legal?
Fireworks come in all shapes and sizes, making sure you purchase the ones that are safe for your family and home is of utmost importance. In Arizona, all sparklers, smoke devices, ground spinners, sparkling wheels, and fountain fireworks are legal. Only fireworks that are designed to rise and detonate in the sky are prohibited for residential use. Even with legal fireworks, it is recommended by the Arizona Fire Department to monitor all firework use to guarantee no loose sparks or flames and keep everyone as safe as possible.

Firework Shows
Leaving it up to the experts is always an option too! To watch professional firework shows, there are several options in the Phoenix area. The Avondale Light up the Sky Celebration is hosted at the Phoenix Raceway from 6-9 p.m. Both free general admission and a VIP experience are available. Fully equipped with food trucks, games, and a kid zone. There is also the Star Spangled Fourth at Goodyear Ballpark at 6 p.m., with free admission, activities, and parking. Food and drink are available for purchase, and two live bands will be performing prior to the firework show. The Peoria All-American Festival will also be hosting fireworks in the evening. This event is at the Peoria Sports Complex from 5-10 p.m. Food vendors, waterslides, and a cornhole tournament are all going on for free prior to the show.

Community Celebrations
Independence Day is also the perfect opportunity to connect with your neighbors. The Alamar masterplan community where our neighborhood of Acclaim at Alamar is located, is hosting an event in their parks for residents to come and enjoy. They will be having food, music, and activities for younger kids. For those that don't feel like driving in traffic for a show from the experts, this is a great way to celebrate right in your community. Grilling out in your backyard or local park, full control over the playlist, and enjoying the Arizona sunsets, can be the perfect chill Fourth of July some are looking for.

We hope all our residents and communities have a safe and enjoyable Independence Day this year.
