Decorate for Spring with Green Decor
There’s a freshness that comes to mind when prepping your home for spring, particularly if you’re thinking of switching up the décor in your home. After all, springtime signifies new life and a sense of breaking out from the cold and dark days of winter. As we feel this taking place all around us, it’s only natural that we want to bring some of that life into our homes as well.
It almost seems like Pantone had spring in mind when they selected 2017’s Color of the Year, Greenery. A tone more aligned with nature — and more subdued than the showcase colors from the past few years — Greenery has the ability to add life to a neutral room or provide an accented splash of color to an already vibrant backdrop. Whether you’re refreshing your home for spring, the entire year or looking for stylish ways to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day, we’ve got you covered with some décor ideas that will bring in the green.
Décor Idea #1: Green Textiles
One way to bring a big or subtle pop of green into your home is with textiles. Textiles can accent an entire room or single pieces of furniture. Overall, they can really guide the atmosphere of your decor. These accents are also some of the easier pieces to move and switch around or change out completely! For St. Patrick’s Day, try adding a few festive green pillows to your family room. For a year-round hint of green consider layering in green throw blankets or a natural green rug to an otherwise neutral colored room. These additions will add a punch of color while maintaining your home’s overall aesthetic.
Décor Idea #2: Green Décor Accessories
Moving beyond textiles, you can add more greenery inspiration through décor accessories. From vases and books to the art and wall décor, these are the conversations starters of your home. Not ready to commit to a work of art? For a festive holiday touch, you can add a green-covered coffee table book on Ireland or a temporary green centerpiece to a dining or console table.
Décor Idea #3: Greenery and Plant Life
Of course, the most literal way to introduce Greenery into your living space is with exactly that, greenery. There’s no better way to bring in the freshness of this color than by adding flowers, plants and indoor trees. Plants can introduce the same effects as textiles by bringing another layer of decorative life to a room. Not to mention they’re creating oxygen for you and are noted for actually making people happier!
We know not everyone has a green thumb, so we’ve also put together a quick guide to some easy-to-manage plants that have staying power long past March 17 (even for the most dedicated of plant killers). Print or Pin this chart to plan your next indoor garden.
